I've made a pet project out of noting everything Astarion approves of in game, starting with early access lists from the wiki and then confirming or disproving each one to update for the full release, as well as noting ones that are possibly bugged I also left comments open on the document so people can contribute if they want to I have most approvals instances listed, however I haven't

Personally, I found that the best armor for Astarion is the Studded Leather +1 sold by the merchant in the zhentarim hideout near the burning inn It gets him up to 16 or 17 (depending on DEX), or even 18 or 19 with a shield, but I usually let him dual wield magic shortswords to get maximum mileage out of poison, since using his bite power

Astarion will kill the spawn, tell the player to rot and leave the party Obviously, the devs counted that people will have bonuses and inspiration, but the differences in sabotaging the ritual and letting this play out are quite dramatic
