It should work out of the box if you use the VS interface to build and let UnrealBuildTool call incredibuild just dont use incredibuild to build ue4, that wont work because ubt calls incredibuild already

Hi, From the documentation I see that XGE is supported in UE4 and I am curious about which areas can be benefited from this technology I previously had great experience using Incredibuild, but mostly with regard to code compilation I wondered if UE4 can utilize it in other areas as well? If so, what are they? For example, shader compilation? Many thanks!

You should be able to open the folder location for IncrediBuild (in the “Xoreax IncrediBuild” folder) from the start menu and select IncrediBuild Agent Settings
- IncrediBuild stops compiling shaders every time after 1-2 mins
After stopping the build on IncrediBuild then the build restarts and shaders continue to build but need to keep on restarting it every 1-2 minutes so cannot really do anything else while its compiling
