- Does anyone has a Carson MicroFlip 100x-250x Pocket Microscope?
Of course I do have a child microscope, but it now has dirty non-washable lens, ugly green lens and light colour with scrached slide glass So i think it would be obviously better rather than trying to look through this weak-light "100-600-1200x" child scope, where "600" seems to be real 200-250 and on "1200" it's impossible to get the focus

Here is the latest 400x microscope sample straight from the green slime seen in the picture: And then 1000x samples taken from the brown clear slimy film growing on the glass and rocks : Same sample 1000x with some proro and Amphidinium? However these are present in very little volume Most of the mass comes from those tiny golden things

A stereo microscope (or dissection microscope) is the tool of choice when you want to view larger critters that have some three-dimensionality, unlike *seemingly* flat microbes on a slide If you have a medical school in your area, look there first!!!

IMO, an inexpensive microscope is just fine for what we're doing All you need is a 4x, 10x, and 40x objectives I wouldn't go any higher than 100x When you add the 10x eye piece these now translate into 4x = 40x, 10x = 100x, 40x = 400x, and 100x = 1000x I rarely find myself going beyond 400x magnification
