Port Townsend pier is fair for red rock crab Kayak Point park north of Marysville may be good for 1-3 crabs during a day of crabbing Also try Cornet Bay piers and Bowman Bay pier (Deception Pass area) for rock crab and keeper dungies BB pier was really good about 10 years ago for rock crab, but has been slim pickings in recent years

There was also a barge out of Belmont Shores pier It was anchored just inside the breakwater at the se end of the Long Beach L A harbor This was in the late 50's and early 60's Lots of fun for kids catching bonita and occasional sand bass and halibut The Matt Walsh was a half day boat out of Pierpoint landing in Long Beach

Fifty feet works, 75 would be better Make sure they crab on the proper side of the pier with the tides (bay side on incoming, ocean side outgoing) Rings will get swept into the pier with tidal currents and you won't get them back

There's already the jetty rock pier they're using for barging rock to the south jetty Shame the corps can't just leave it there after completion to be used by the public I used to beach snare crabs there with good success If they added a lower floating fishing dock on the side of it, it could be a great fall Salmon fishing pier as well

Ventura Pier and Redondo Pier are way better options, but if you have to go to the Venice Beach tourist trap I guess it is what it is If you go down to Redondo I believe you need a one day license to fish it, but the others mentioned you don't need one unless there has been a very recent rule change

For jetty fishing I just use my salmon bobber rod or an old 8'6" no name combo heavy spinning setup that is over 20 years old now
