Why you're having your issue is the question, but Microsoft certainly hasn't "has cancelled the service supplying metadata for windows media player" as clearly shown above Anyway my default media player is JRiver Media Center (a paid app) or Plex for streaming when not at home For CD rips I use either JRiver or dBpoweramp (paid program)
